Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the three locations?

All three locations are a part of the RCF Barbell Club Community! However, there are a few key differences when it comes to the intention behind the spaces:

We opened RCF Barbell Club on Pine St. as a space to accommodate all lifters at all levels. The space has plenty of places to squat, bench, and deadlift and provides competition grade kg plates and equipment suitable for any sanctioned powerlifting training. It has 4 deadlift platforms, 5 powerlifting combo racks, 2 Rogue power racks, and other equipment to accommodate accessory lifts. Though it DOES have one Olympic Weightlifting platform, RCF Barbell SODO is really the bread and butter when it comes to Oly (squats, cleans, jerks, dropping things overhead) lifting. The Barbell Club is open with 24/7 access and its’ newest expansion includes RCF Powerbottom, which is right across the street!

RCF Powerbottom is an extension RCF Barbell Club. We opened up this location in order to free up some space at the Barbell Club and to provide new toys for the community. With 60 x 15 ft of turf space, Powerbottom has plenty of room for strength athletics (aka strongman, strong person, practical/functional lifting, funner than powerlifting, etc) equipment and lifting. Equipment includes a yoke, sled, farmers carry, Atlas stones, sand bags, tires, and MORE! Wowza so cool!

RCF Barbell SODO is our only location that isn’t located in Capitol Hill. The idea behind this location is to include anything and everything that has to do with Olympic Weightlifting! We have 9 Oly platforms, super strong concrete floors for dropping overhead, and all of the equipment necessary for the sport. We also have two combo racks, two squat racks, and equipment for accessory movements. The idea at the location is to build a Barbell Club community with coaching hours and classes! Classes will include Barbell Basics, Weightlifting 101, and more! This location is powerlifting (and resistance training in general) friendly, too!

All memberships include access to the main Rain City Fit location on 1516 11th Ave in Capitol Hill.

How do I access the locations? Do you have a parking lot?

All members get their own individual door codes after sign-up that will work for all three locations + the main gym! We don’t have any parking lots (darn you, Seattle) and all parking is street parking. There’s a mix of paid and free 2-hour street parking near all of our locations.

Why do I need a tour in order to sign up?

Since we are a small business and private gym community, we try to schedule a tour and meet every person who wants to join! This is to ensure that all individuals abide by our community agreement so that we can cultivate the welcoming and inclusive community intended

What if I only want to use one of the locations? Can I pay less?

The $99/month price point takes into account the specialty equipment available at all three locations, 24/7 access, and is on par with the price of other Seattle barbell gyms. We don’t expect all members to utilize all three Barbell Club spaces + the Main Gym, but we thought it’d be a nice perk and addition to your membership. If you’re only interested in one location at a cheaper price point, our main gym Rain City Fit is only $59/month! All Barbell Club memberships include access to Rain City Fit, too. That’s right: four gyms for the price of one! *ooooohh aaaahhhhh*

Do you offer sliding scale?

Yes, we do! We never want finances or economic disparities to be a reason why somebody can’t join our community. We prefer to offer this option to folks making below the Seattle median income, but can offer this for other case-by-case bases. Please reach out to us directly for more information!


Can I get a day pass?

You sure can! Our day pass is $15 and our week pass is $40. Please e-mail rcfbarbell@raincityfit.com to get this set up. All day pass members must e-mail ahead of time. We’re not staffed 24/7 so drop-ins aren’t always feasible but we’d love to accommodate with a little notice!

What is the cancellation policy?

We don’t have one! All of our memberships are a recurring billing on the same day as sign-up. Cancel whenever (if you MUST… hehe). All we ask is to try to e-mail us with a couple of day’s notice before your next billing date and we can get that all squared away!

Who are these gyms for? Do I have to compete in order to join?

All locations are welcoming to all ranges and experience levels. Even if you’ve never competed in any strength sport ever, that’s totally okay! These gyms are for you! Our members include folks who have never touched a barbell, to international level lifters, to everything in between. You absolutely do not need to have prior experience before joining. Regardless of your goals, this community is for you!
